Safety Brake

The timmer safety brake is used predominantly on powered roller shutter doors. It is used to ensure that if the door experiences a power failure, the door is prevented from dropping and potentially injuring somebody below. Recent EU legislation now states that ‘safeguards against dropping can be achieved using anti drop devices or other design features incorporated into the door suspension system’. All powered overhead doors must be fitted with an anti drop device as in accordance with EN13241-1 and EN12604 clause 4.3.4 (5.3.4 revised draft)Shutters also has an applicable standard EN13659-2004 which states performance requirements including safety.
